Sometimes you just need a break.
Respite is short-term support that gives family members and other unpaid carers some time away from their usual caring responsibilities.
Work. Appointments. Lunch with a friend. A walk. A nap. Hey, we’re not here to judge!
Meanwhile, the person you care for continues to receive support at home, with their usual routines and needs taken into account.
Respite can be arranged casually, regularly or, depending on availability, when something unexpected comes up.
Someone you’re comfortable leaving them with.
Taking a break isn’t much of a break if you spend the whole time worrying.
CareChoice works with you to understand the person’s needs, routines and preferences, and to match them with a Support Worker suited to them.
Because peace of mind is rather important when peace is part of what you were hoping to get.

A few hours? An evening? Overnight?

Respite doesn’t have to mean disappearing for a week.
CareChoice can provide in-home support across weekdays, weekends and evenings, as well as overnight and 24-hour support where required.
Depending on the person, that could include support with everyday routines and activities, companionship or getting out into the community.
The important bit? You get a genuine break. And they get a good day too!
You don’t have to earn a break by reaching breaking point.
Respite can be part of the routine, not something you only reach for when everything becomes too much.
Regular respite can give you time for work, appointments, family, friends, rest or simply some space to recharge.
Needing a break doesn’t mean you care any less. In fact, it usually means you’ve been caring a lot.
